Privacy policy
FS Kingpin is built by an independent solo developer in Norway. We try to collect as little personal data as we can get away with. This page describes what's collected, why, and how to contact us about it.
What the FS Kingpin app collects
Your game data (your career, missions, progress, and settings) is stored only on your machine in two SQLite databases: read-only airport data and your read-write player save. Your single-player save file, MSFS settings, and aircraft files are never transmitted to us or modified.
Two things are sent to our licensing server, linked to your licence key:
- Licence activation. When you activate, the app sends your licence key, your email address, and a hardware identifier (a one-way hash derived from your machine, not your raw hardware details) so we can validate the licence and bind it to your computer. A licence can be active on up to three machines.
- Playtime. While the app is running it periodically reports how long it has been active, linked to your licence. We use this for support, licence enforcement, and to prevent refund abuse. This playtime report never includes your save data or in-game content.
The app does not require a separate username or password; your licence key is what identifies you to our online services. It shows no ads and uses no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Our licensing and online services run on servers we operate through a third-party cloud hosting provider, which processes these requests on our behalf. As part of handling a request, the hosting provider sees your device's IP address, which is used to rate-limit requests and prevent abuse. We do not store your IP address in our game database.
Multiplayer and social features
FS Kingpin includes optional online multiplayer and social features (crews, shared jobs, leaderboards, a live map, and territory). They stay off until you choose to use them. When you do, the app sends the following to our online service so it can be shown to other players:
- Your callsign, and any crew name, tag, and colour you set. These are shown to other players.
- Your faction, level, and gameplay totals (such as distance flown and jobs completed), used for crew rosters and leaderboards.
- If you turn on location sharing, your approximate in-game position (latitude and longitude rounded to about half a nautical mile, plus heading and aircraft class) while you are flying, so crewmates and nearby players can see you on the live map. You can turn location sharing off in the app settings at any time.
Other players never see your licence key, email address, or hardware identifier. On the shared views you appear under a stable nickname derived from your licence key, which cannot be reversed back to it, alongside the callsign you chose. We do not send your single-player save file to the online service.
If you leave a crew or turn off location sharing, the related data is removed from the live views. To have your social data deleted entirely, email us (see Your rights below).
These features are in beta and under active development. We may reset, wipe, or remove online data such as crews, leaderboards, stats, and territory at any time. This does not affect your single-player save.
What this website collects
No analytics, no tracking pixels, no cookies (other than session cookies set by Paddle during checkout). If we add privacy-respecting analytics later (such as Plausible or Fathom), we will name the provider here and they will run without cookies or cross-site tracking.
What ConvertKit collects when you join the waitlist
The waitlist signup form is hosted by ConvertKit (now Kit). When you submit your email, ConvertKit stores it and tags it for the FS Kingpin Early Access launch announcement. We use a single tag, not a generic newsletter list. ConvertKit's privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.
We send one email when Early Access launches. After that, you can unsubscribe with one click, and we never sell or share your address. If you want us to delete your record before launch, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with.
What Paddle collects at checkout
Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd. (Judd House, 18-29 Mora Street, London, EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom), which acts as the Merchant of Record and authorised reseller of FS Kingpin. At checkout Paddle collects your name, email address, billing details, and country (for VAT and sales tax compliance). Paddle's privacy policy is at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
After a successful purchase, we receive your email address (so we can support you), the product you bought, and the order ID. We do not receive your billing details or full address.
Email correspondence
If you email [email protected] we keep that email thread for support reference. We never sell or share email addresses.
Auto-updates
The app checks for updates against a public GitHub releases endpoint when you launch it. This request includes only your IP address (handled by GitHub) and the version string of your installed FS Kingpin build. We do not log these requests.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Paddle sets session cookies during checkout. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are used.
Your rights
EU and UK residents have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of any personal data we hold. Email [email protected] from the address you used at purchase and we'll handle it within 30 days. For purchase data, you can also contact Paddle directly.
This includes any data held for the online multiplayer features. You can also remove most of it yourself at any time by leaving your crew or turning off location sharing in the app.
